Anne Henderson

BSc, BN, PGDip Counselling and Psychotherapy, MBACP

As a person-centred therapist I offer a non judgemental, confidential and safe environment where you can feel accepted. One of the first steps in achieving growth is to be able to be honest and open with yourself. My role in helping with that is to be warm, honest, compassionate, and facilitative.

Each individual approaches therapy in a different way and takes a different time. I will meet you with understanding and give you space and time to explore your options and support your change. I aim to work with each clients individual needs and I offer a variety of creative ways to explore these.

I offer a free initial session to discuss the reason you are coming to therapy and what you hope to achieve. It is a chance to work out if we will be comfortable working together and check that you can be offered the most appropriate support.

It is also an opportunity to discuss how we will work together and I will provide some written information.

I am based in North Berwick with good transport links. My therapy room has views of the sea and can offer you a safe, comfortable and confidential space for us to work together.

    Training, Qualifications and Experience

I worked for many years in the NHS with individuals and families in the community, supporting both physical and mental health. As an individual and a team member I was able to gain many skills working in partnership with people who were facing difficult circumstances. It has always been important to me to really try to understand  each persons lived experiences while withholding judgement.

I went on to train as a Person Centred therapist and since my initial training I have continued to study to deepen my knowledge.  I  worked with PF Counselling for several years in their general and young persons service and I have a thriving private practice. I work with NHS Borders offering short term therapy and I also take work from insurance companies.

I love my job and I feel privileged to be able to work with people so closely  and hear and understand whats important for them.
